Important Info and Checklist for Columbia Conference

Hey All:

A few notes before we win in New York.
Please make sure you remember the following -
  • Western Business Attire (Gentlemen – Suit and Tie. Ladies – Suit, Skirt or Dress, Blouse). If you need anything dry cleaned, please do so today.
    • Also, bring non-business attire for social activities and nice shoes (not sneakers) for club night.
    • The hostel is a 12-15 minute walk from Columbia’s Campus, so plan for lots of walking.
  • Plenty of Pens and Paper
  • Flip flops for the showers
  • Snacks/food
  • Socks and Underwear (Cox’s request)
  • Computer is optional, but a good idea to have.
  • Deodorant, Toothbrush, Shampoo, Soap, Razor, additional person hygiene needs.
  • Cash (for subway, meals, taxi fare, booze, etc). I recommend bringing between $30-$75. There are plenty of ATMs and most places accept credit (though not lion cash… Sorry!)
  • Printout of your delegate guide
    • Also, it is a good idea to come prepared with additional information/research about your position. Please see http://www.cmunny.org/page/node/3 to access your committee’s delegate guide.
    • Another recommendation is to prepare a binder with all the information you’ll need for committee. This will allow you to access research quickly, have fast access to the rules of procedure, as well as have any additional information for committee within reach at all times. BestDelegate.com has a great post on the 15 things every delegate should have in their binder. See here: http://bit.ly/brq6LP
  • BRING YOUR ID (Everybody! You’ll likely need it for club night and social activities)
  • Cell phone and Laptop Charger
Also, some logistics information -

    • Zach Callis and I will be picking people up from campus and downtown Thursday morning to take them to the bus stop at Walmart.
      • 8:45AM there will be a car (red saab – Rory) outside Louie’s in South Halls. Please be waiting outside at 8:40.
      • 9:10AM there will be a car (blue audi – Zach) in the Beaver Ave Parking lot between CVS and Karma downtown. Please be waiting outside at 9:05.
      • 9:15AM there will be a car (red saab – Rory) outside of Arby’s in downtown. Please be waiting outside at 9:10.

    • You can bring ONE bag (luggage/suitcase) to store under the bus and ONE carry on (Book bag, tote, briefcase).
      • Pack light! There is not a lot of room on either the bus or in the hostel.
